Not much have changed since the beginning of the year and the guide will mostly remain the same.

Linux Shared Hosting

Most of the websites you visit are hosting on Linux. When it comes to shared hosting it's normally either cPanel or Direct Admin.

Cheapest of the Cheap: Webspacebar - 50MB Direct Admin - R5

You don't get a lot of space but you can host a small site on there. For only R5 a month! It's a bargain.

Best Low Cost Value for Money: Webspacebar - 1GB Direct Admin - R25

You may as well go for some more space because at R25 per month you get an enormous amount of value. Webspacebar also has great support and it's easy to recommend them.

One Site With Everything Unlimited: Elitehost - Unlimited - R45

If you are going to host one website and don't want to worry about limits and it's not going to be a big or business website then this is the package to go for.

Best Business Package: 1-grid - Large - R250

For a business site you want speed and good support. 1-grid is one of the biggest hosts in South Africa and they would be the ideal place to host your business website. They will even help you move over your existing site.

Windows Shared Hosting

.NET hosting isn't that popular anymore. But you do get lots of web applications written in .NET. For instance the site you are reading now.

Hosting Web is hosted on Winity. For those interested in a cheap overseas Windows virtual machine.

Cheapest of the Cheap (Windows Edition): 1-grid - .NET Small - R80

With fewer hosts offering .NET hosting the cheapest currently is R80 at 1-grid. I would recommend paying the extra R40 however and going for the next option.

Best Windows Hosting Deal: 1-grid - .NET Medium - R120

10 GB space and multiple sites, if you are going to host on .NET then this is the one I would recommend.

General Awards

Cheapest Domain: Frikkadel - .co.za - R75

Yep, they still offer the cheapest .co.za domain in the world. And yep, they are good host to host at too. Friendly people with good prices.

Web Host of the Month

1-grid

Their support has gotten much better over the years and they have such great packages available, especially for online stores that it's easy to recommend them.
