Welcome to the one year anniversary post of this guide!

In here you will find South Africa's best and biggest hosting companies examined and their prices shown in detailed tables. All so that you can make an informed decision on where to host your website.

The guide is divided into a couple of categories. Most people will want the cheapest hosting so it's the first table shown. The rest of the tables can be viewed by clicking on the Show Table buttons. This way I can keep the guide a bit shorter.

I've added one extra host in this article. They were the first to ask. I'm very sorry for all the other hosts that asked to be included. It will happen in the next guide. The list is getting huge and I will change the format of the guide in the future.

Cheapest of the Cheap: Cybersmart - Pink - R0

There's just nothing like this package. It was the winner a year ago and it's still the winner. It's free and you can host a site with a database like WordPress on it. I wouldn't use it for a company website but for a small personal website it's ideal.

The Most Space: Elitehost - Unlimited - R35

In theory the award should still go to MWEB but their package is so limited otherwise. Elitehost will give you a better deal for just a couple of Rand per month more.

Most Sites on a Single Package: Webspacebar - 50mb - R4.95

If you want to make a lot of really small sites. Especially sites that don't contain a lot of media or databases then this is the deal for you. Or you can get extra 50MB more for a Rand extra with MI HOST.

Medium sized website (R50 to R100)

Unlimited Everything: Hostking - Business - R99

If you are the kind of person that don't want to worry about staying within certain limits then you can't go wrong with Hostking's Business package. For under R100 per month you get unlimited shared hosting.

Best deal for R100 or less Elitehost - Unlimited Plus - R60

If you are going to have maximum 3 domains then Hostking's package may be overkill for you. In that case Elitehost offers the best value since everything else is unlimited. You just need to buy a domain.

Would you prefer to not have your site hosted in South Africa but rather target international users?

The big boy. Some companies prefer to host with the bigger more well known web hosts. It costs double that of Hostking's unlimited business package but I've seen quite a few people sign up that are happy.

Hostking still rules in the Windows department.

Best Windows Hosting Deal: Hostking - Standard - R42

Such a good deal if you are a .Net developer! Host all the sites you want for under R50 a month.

If I have to pick one host to recommend from this list then my recommendation is still Hostking. I've had no complaints and their hosting packages are such good value for money. A lot of people are also happy with Elitehost.
